FisherBroyles LLP, the first and world’s largest distributed law firm partnership, welcomes new partners James Rosenbluth, Jennifer Brooks, and David Smith. Mr. Rosenbluth is joining the firm’s New York office, Ms. Brooks will be based in the Dallas office, and Mr. Smith will be located at both the Los Angeles and Palo Alto office.

The attorneys are the latest to join the firm after previously spending time working at Am Law 100 firms.

“We are delighted that Jennifer, James, and David are joining the firm,” said FisherBroyles Managing Partner Michael Pierson.

“Both Jennifer and David are excellent additions to the firm’s already substantial intellectual property practice and bolster the firm’s deep bench of experienced patent attorneys. Additionally, James is an exciting addition to the firm’s corporate, securities, and private equity practice, particularly given his strength in cross-border matters for clients operating in Japan. Our US clients will benefit from his fluency in Japanese as well as his breadth of experience representing clients in acquisitions, strategic alliances, and joint ventures.”

For the attorneys, the unique structure of FisherBroyles, particularly as it relates to having autonomy over their practice, was a major draw to join the firm.

“I was drawn to FisherBroyles by the combination of the freedoms that the firm offers its attorneys to practice law where and how they want to practice, based on the firm’s adoption of a cutting-edge, distributed, cloud-based information and communications system, at hourly billing rates that the firm’s attorneys are for the most part free to set as they choose, with the support of a national platform of nearly 250 partners in 22 locations across the country,” says Mr. Rosenbluth.

Ms. Brooks echoed these sentiments, noting that there are many benefits to being part of a firm based on telecommuting.

“Telecommuting full time provides partners with flexibility to improve work-life balance and deliver more value to clients on a daily basis,” says Ms. Brooks.

“Combined with no minimum billing requirement, flexible billing options enable partners to remove fee cap pressure and administrative routines by eliminating billable hours and associated tasks.”

In addition to the firm’s structure, Mr. Smith noted that he was interested in moving to FisherBroyles because of its strong track record in intellectual property law.

“The firm has an excellent IP practice and an excellent infrastructure, and I will also be rejoining colleagues that I have previously worked with over the past two decades,” says Mr. Smith. He also highlighted that he was looking forward to working with the latest cutting-edge technology at the firm.

Mr. Rosenbluth is a partner in the firm’s corporate department and his practice areas include securities and private equity, international law, and general corporate law. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School. Before joining FisherBroyles, Mr. Rosenbluth has worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Brown Rudnick LLP, and Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.

Ms. Brooks practices intellectual property law and focuses on both patent preparation and prosecution. She earned a B.S. and J.D. from Indiana University and has previously worked at Norton Rose Fulbright and Gardere Wynne Sewell.

Mr. Smith focuses his practice on intellectual property and commercial transactions. He received his bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College and his law degree from the University of Denver. Mr. Smith has worked at Lyon & Lyon, Howrey, LLP, and Morrison & Foerster.
