FisherBroyles, LLP (“FisherBroyles”) is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Bennett to its Atlanta office. Richard is a business attorney with an MBA who began his career in Bermuda, including offshore corporate work at Bermuda’s largest law firm. Given his business background, Richard seeks practical solutions that balance the cost-benefit differences among alternative legal and business strategies.
“Richard’s deep understanding of business, which goes well beyond the legal aspects, is a perfect fit with the FisherBroyles standard of excellence,” said Chris Wilson, the Atlanta Area Managing Partner for FisherBroyles. “By providing our clients with access to high-caliber lawyers such as Richard, coupled with our firm’s unprecedented cost efficiency, we are able to maintain our position as the market leader in first-rate legal services at the best value.”
Richard’s extensive transactional experience spans the business life-cycle, including start-up issues, agreements among co-owners, restrictive covenants for employees, incentive compensation, and mergers and acquisitions. Richard recently advised a restaurant owner throughout the spin-off of a subsidiary. “Although the location was profitable, various factors made the operation an outlier compared to my client’s core business. Now he can reinvest those funds in a direction that better matches the strengths of his other locations, the goal being to provide a higher overall return on investment.”
Richard also represents clients in various other sectors, including the software, light industrial, real estate, and professional services industries. As Richard explains, “No matter the industry, business owners all share a common set of goals and problems, and many of their problems are ones that they are facing for the first time. They value being able to rely on someone who sees those types of problems on a daily basis — they can then focus their efforts on serving their clients and customers, which is what drew them into business in the first place.”
In 2014, Richard received the Martindale-Hubbell® AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating. This recognition is a result of direct feedback from attorneys about a peer’s legal abilities and professional ethical standards. The AV® Preeminent rating is a significant accomplishment and a testament to the fact that Richard’s peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
Chris Wilson added, “We are pleased that Richard accepted our offer to join our Atlanta office. This is an exciting time for FisherBroyles as our growth continues to accelerate, allowing us to continue meeting the growing demand as more businesses recognize the advantages of our Law Firm 2.0® model.”
Richard is a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, an MBA graduate of UGA’s Terry College of Business, and a graduate of Emory University where he studied political science, history, and English.
