Pey,-Chris-(headshot)FisherBroyles, LLP (“FisherBroyles”) is pleased to announce that partner Chris Pey has joined our rapidly growing New York City office. Chris is a veteran import/export lawyer specializing in federal regulation of products and materials, with extensive experience in federal litigation.

Co-Founder and Managing Partner Kevin E. Broyles welcomes Chris to the firm. “Adding Chris reinforces the proposition that with FisherBroyles, Fortune 500 companies can obtain the same experienced advice that they previously obtained at traditional law firms, but at a fraction of the cost. As a former law clerk for the U.S. Court of International Trade and a veteran of BigLaw outfits such as Baker & McKenzie, Chris increases the depth of our platinum international practice at just the right time.” James Fisher, II, FisherBroyles’ other co-founder, said that “Chris brings extensive international trade experience to support our increasing client base of domestic and foreign importers and exporters. He understands how well the Fisher Broyles Law Firm 2.0® model can be used to provide cost effective, first-rate legal services to both large and small companies.”

Chris represents clients before general and specialized US federal courts and regulatory agencies. He handles matters falling under the jurisdiction of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Department of State (State), the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Department of Commerce (DOC), among others. New York Managing Partner Michael Cone noted, “I’ve worked with Chris for years and am delighted to invite such a highly regarded practitioner into our international practice group. He affords complementary depth to our current services, adds new skills in the area of export controls, and burnishes our rapidly evolving international legal services brand.”

Chris speaks fluent French, and in addition to practicing at Coudert Brothers and Baker & McKenzie, he also headed a leading Customs broker’s U.S. trade compliance group. His clients have included companies producing a wide range of commodities, such as petroleum, textiles, medical devices, automotive and chemical products. In the customs area he has successfully represented clients facing penalty assessments, classifying and valuing products, defending regulatory audits, preparing voluntary disclosures, obtaining scope rulings, and planning and administering duty-reduction strategies (drawback, FTZs, etc.). He has litigated in federal trial and appellate courts, up to and including the U.S. Supreme Court, is a licensed customshouse broker, and is a member of the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA).
