Onorato,-Tony-(headshot)

New York, NY, December 1, 2014—FisherBroyles LLP, the nation’s first and only national full-service, cloud-based law firm is pleased to announce the addition of its newest partner, Tony Onorato.  Tony joins from Steptoe & Johnson LLP, bringing his commercial litigation and technology/IP counseling practice to FisherBroyles’ rapidly growing New York office.

Tony’s litigation practice covers a wide variety of commercial matters across industry sectors, including at the state and federal trial and appellate levels, and before specialized tribunals.  In just the last month, Tony’s successes include enjoining the EPA from proceeding with a regulatory action on the basis of alleged violations of the Federal Advisory Committee Act and securing two multi-million dollar judgments against Internet cyber pirates for illegal re-broadcasting of TV shows and movies.

“Tony’s complex litigation expertise and cutting edge technology practice is a perfect complement to FisherBroyles’ innovative, aggressive firm model,” said James M. Fisher II, FisherBroyles’ co-founder.  “By providing our clients with high-level talent and experience such as Tony’s, leveraged against unprecedented cost efficiency, we are able to offer the best skills at the best value.”

Tony also represents clients in government investigations and agency compliance matters, drawing on his years in Washington, DC working in the political arena as a lobbyist, campaign operative, consultant, and public opinion strategist.

His technology and IP practice covers multiple disciplines, including copyright and trademark; brand protection, online enforcement and domain portfolio management; cyber piracy; privacy laws and data security compliance; and online risk mitigation and enforcement.  In addition, Tony has extensive experience counseling clients on ICANN’s New gTLD program.  In 2012, he represented clients accounting for approximately 10% of all New gTLD applications submitted worldwide, including prominent companies in the insurance, Internet, fashion, financial services, software, media, and entertainment sectors.

In 2014, Tony was named to New York Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list and he is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.  Formerly, he was head of an Internet, New gTLD & Domain Name Services practice group.

Michael Cone, Managing Partner of the New York and Washington DC offices, added, “The addition of Tony immediately bolsters our New York litigation presence and provides a wide-ranging knowledge base to our clients.  Bringing him on board is an exciting addition at an exciting time in FisherBroyles’ growth, as more and more companies recognize the advantages of our Law Firm 2.0® model.”

Tony was magna cum laude at Georgetown Law and a cum laude graduate of Duke University.
