Geoffrey Goodale, a Partner in the Washington, DC office of FisherBroyles and Co-Chair of the Export Controls and Economic Sanctions Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law (ABA SIL), was interviewed for an article on key recent developments involving the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) that appears in the latest issue of Risk & Compliance magazine.  In the article, Mr. Goodale, who recently has been appointed to serve on a CFIUS Reform Task Force that has been established by the ABA SIL, discusses the crucial role that CFIUS has played in decisions made by President Trump to block various foreign acquisitions of U.S. companies (e.g., Broadcom’s proposed acquisition of Qualcomm) and how the jurisdiction and powers of CFIUS could be significantly expanded if the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA) is passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump.
